Classical Swine Fever (CSF): This is a highly contagious and fatal infectious disease in pigs caused by Classical Swine Fever Virus (CSFV). It affects pigs of all breeds, ages, and genders and has been a significant threat to the swine industry, causing substantial economic losses. It is classified as an A-listed animal disease by the World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE).
Porcine Reproductive and Respiratory Syndrome (PRRS): This disease is caused by Porcine Reproductive and Respiratory Syndrome Virus (PRRSV), also known as Porcine Blue Ear Virus. It results in reproductive problems and respiratory inflammation in pigs. Affected pigs may exhibit symptoms like anorexia, fever, reproductive issues, and severe respiratory diseases, often with a high mortality rate.
Porcine Circovirus Disease: This is a collective term for a series of infectious diseases in pigs caused by porcine circoviruses. There are four known serotypes: PCV1, PCV2, PCV3, and PCV4. PCV2, in particular, is pathogenic and can lead to clinical symptoms such as respiratory distress, wasting, diarrhea, pale skin, lymphnode enlargement, and jaundice.
Pseudorabies (Aujeszky's Disease): Also known as mad itch disease, this is an acute infectious disease shared by pigs and other animals. Pigs serve as natural hosts and carriers of the pseudorabies virus (PRV).
The virus can have a mortality rate of up to 100% in piglets and can cause reproductive problems and respiratory symptoms in adult pigs.
All these diseases can lead to severe health issues and economic losses when they co-infect a pig population.
Therefore, there is a crucial need for a product that can accurately, effectively, and sensitively detect and differentiate between these viruses (Classical Swine Fever Virus, Porcine Blue Ear Virus, Porcine Circovirus Type 2, and Pseudorabies Virus).
The CSFV/PRRSV/PCVII/PRV(gE) Nucleic Acid Detection Kit (Fluorescence PCR) finds application in veterinary diagnostics and disease surveillance within the swine industry. It is utilized for the simultaneous detection of multiple swine viruses, including Classical Swine Fever Virus (CSFV), Porcine Reproductive and Respiratory Syndrome Virus (PRRSV), Porcine Circovirus Type II (PCVII), and Pseudorabies Virus (PRV) carrying the gE gene. This kit is essential for screening and monitoring viral infections in swine populations, aiding in disease control and biosecurity measures on swine farms.
Case 1: Using the Kit , samples containing Classic Swine Fever Virus, Porcine Reproductive and Respiratory Syndrome Virus, Porcine Circovirus Type 2, wild strains of Pseudorabies Virus, vaccine strains of Pseudorabies Virus, swine parvovirus, swine transmissible gastroenteritis virus, swine epidemic diarrhea virus, and swine Mycoplasma pneumoniae were tested. The results showed that only samples containing Classic Swine Fever Virus, Porcine Reproductive and Respiratory Syndrome Virus, Porcine Circovirus Type 2, and wild strains of Pseudorabies Virus tested positive, while samples containing other viruses tested negative, indicating that the detection kit has good specificity. The summarized results are as follows:
1. The kit need to be transported under freezing conditions.
2. The kit should be stored at -25℃~-15℃ away from light, and avoid repeated freeze-thaw more than 5 times.
3. The kit can be stored for up to 12 months if all components are kept in the manner above. (Please use the kit in the period of validity).
